PNC Party's Woman Candidate, Rufina Peter wins Central Governor Seat

People’s National Congress Party woman candidate Rufina Peter has unseated PANGU Pati’s Robert Agarobe, making her the new Governor-elect for Central Province. Rufina surpassed the absolute majority of  60,640 after the 20th exclusion of Nelson Saroa. From Mr. Saroa’s 25,551 votes, Rufina collected 6,779, making her to finish the race on the top spot with 62,361  votes. Mr. Agarobe came in second with 58,917 votes. Rufina Peter is the first woman to be declared in the 2022 National Election.  PNG Health Minister and Wabag Open MP Dr Lino Tom is the new parliamentary leader for the People’s Party (PP). The party leadership was left vacant after former Jiwaka governor Dr.William Tongamp lost his seat. The People’s Party caucus unanimously appointed the second term Wabag Open MP to be the parliamentary leader. The announcement was made by People’s Party General Secretary Mr.Willie Palme this morning in Port Moresby. First term Talasea Open MP Freddie Kumai is the new deputy parliamentary leader. MONTE PALACE TROPICAL GARDENS: Review and walk-through with horticultural commentary - Part 1

Welcome to our very first garden walk-though video with English horticulturists Simon and Lorna. In this video we are discovering the delights of Monte Palace tropical gardens in the Portuguese island of Madeira.  The story of Monte Palace gardens began in the 18th century when the English Consul Charles Murray, bought what was then  just farmland and transformed it into his private estate, then called ‘Quinta do Prazer which is Portuguese for ‘The Pleasure Estate’.  In 1897, Alfredo Guilherme Rodrigues purchased Quinta do Prazer and, inspired by the palaces that he had seen in Germany, built a palace-like residence which was later converted into a Hotel known as the Monte Palace Hotel. In 1943, Alfredo Guilherme Rodrigues passed away, leading to the closing of the hotel which, in the meantime, was taken over by a financial institution. Later, in 1987, it was sold on to entrepreneur José Manuel Rodrigues Berardo. He re-established the grounds to how you see them today. So why not join

TOP 100 UK GARDENS - Chelsea Physic Garden: October Tree Walk

Established in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, the four acre site which makes up the Chelsea Physic garden London, England was originally created simply to grow plants to be used as medicine. It is among the oldest botanical gardens in Britain and its rock garden is indeed the oldest in Europe, devoted to alpine plants and Mediterranean plants.  Recently, English horticulturist Lorna had the opportunity to visit Chelsea Physic Garden and go on an autumn tree walk.
