PNG High Court refuses O'Neill's bid to stay Parliament Sitting

A three-men Supreme Court bench has refused an urgent application by Peter O’Neill this morning seeking orders to stay the Parliament from sitting today. Mr. O’Neill is arguing that for Parliament to be called, there has to be a declaration of all 118 seats. The bench refused the application after it ruled that there is no urgency in the application. Solicitor-General Tauvasa Tanuvasa who represented the Attorney-General in the matter said Parliament is already in the process of meeting this morning and Mr O’Neill did not satisfy the court that he would be prejudiced in any way if Parliament met.  NBC / PNG Today Next :  PNG National budget set for September

PNG PM's XIII Orchids team announced to face Australia

Santos PNG Orchids coach Ben Jeffries confirms his 20-player PNG Prime Minister’s XIII Women’s squad will face the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII Women in this Sunday’s clash at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. The match will be played with unlimited interchange and all 20 players are expected to feature. Elsie Albert is unavailable for the match, due to NRLW semi-final commitments with St George Illawarra Dragons, but Orchid number 20, Gloria Kaupa, will captain the side. Jeffries says this is a valuable opportunity for the Santos PNG Orchids, who have not played a match since November 2019, and recently named a 23-player squad for the upcoming Rugby League World Cup (RLWC), featuring many new faces. Nine players will be making their first international appearance in PNG colours on Sunday, so they are seeing a new era of Orchids come through.  Coach Jefferies says this will be their toughest career test to date, playing against stars of State of Origin, the Australian Jillaroos and other...

Author Guest Post - Bernadine Feagins

Readers, please join me welcoming Bernadine Feagins, author of Hakim & Terrance Shadow Mystery who’s guest blogging here today, courtesy Pump Up Your Book Promotion . Hakim & Terrance Shadow Mystery is a children’s book about a boy named Hakim, his faithful dog, Shadow, and his best friend, Terrance. Shadow disappears one day and with the help of Terrance, Hakim’s family and people from the neighborhood, Hakim and Shadow are reunited. The book depicts friendship, hope and devotion to a dog. Both my son and my nephew love dogs, so they were my inspiration for this story. I based my characters on real children. If children can identify with characters, it helps them interpret the events around them and help them solve their own problems like Hakim and Terrance learned as they searched for Shadow. I want children to know that it is important to do the right thing, even though that isn’t always easy. The book is easy to read and understand. It will also help children s...
