PNG Police to announce major reshuffle in the Constabulary

 Police Commissioner David Manning has announced that a major Police reshuffle will be made soon based on individual performances of police officers. Commissioner Manning made this announcement during the 2022 National General Election Debrief Conference held in Lae, Morobe Province last week. The conference was attended by Deputy Commissioner Operation Anton Billie, Deputy Commissioner Administration Joanne Clarkson, acting Deputy Commissioner Specialist Operations Donald Yamasombi, Deputy Commissioner and Chief of Bougainville Police Service Francis Tokura, all Assistant Commissioners, Divisional and Provincial Police Commanders and Directors of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary. Mr Manning said, “This election was also an alternative way to assess your level of command, control and leadership skills in your respective commands. Air Niugini Staff Train on Assist Victims of Family and Sexual Violence at Workplace

Fifteen Air Niugini staff have completed training last week on how to support victims of family and sexual violence (FSV) within the workplace. The two-day training conducted by Business Coalition for Women as part of the Bel Isi Program, focused on raising awareness of the issue and equipping volunteers with the knowledge on providing support and protecting those who may be faced with family and sexual violence. Some areas covered include counselling, legal, welfare, Interim Protection Order(IPO), hospital and accommodation among others. Air Niugini Chief Executive Officer, Bruce Alabaster said such a training is important as it ensures airline staff who may be faced with violence and suffering can get the support they require through a well-co-ordinated programme of support.  He said “Air Niugini does not condone any form of violence especially family and sexual violence and we are committed to this training and the partnership with Bel Isi PNG to ensure our staff are protected from

The Colourful Samburu Tribe of Kenya: A Travel Photo Series

They are related to the famous Maasai tribe living in the Maasai Mara game reserve in Kenya. They are one of the more dominating tribes of north-central Kenya. They are semi-nomadic pastoralists who mainly herd cattle, but also keep sheep, goats and camels. I am talking about the colourful Samburu tribe who live north of the equator in Kenya and live in very diverse and beautiful landscapes that span high altitude forests, open plains, semi-arid grass and bush land to complete desert. One of their main settlements is on the fringes of Samburu National Park in North Kenya and this is where I met them. Experiencing the Samburu National reserve and the Samburu tribe becomes a beautiful one-two combo for a rich wildlife and culture experience. New Peugeot 408 arrives

Peugeot Ireland has launched the new generation 408 here at a starting price of €39,995, writes Brian Byrne. In a fastback styling that changes the marketing space for the model, the new 408 has a 130hp petrol automatic at launch, with 180hp and 225hp plug-in hybrid options arriving soon and a fully-electric one planned. No diesel will be offered. In line with Peugeot’s timeline on electrification, the petrol engine will be replaced by the end of this year with a mild-hybrid version. The car slots between the 308 hatchback and the 3008 crossover, at the upper end of the C segment in size. A long wheelbase allows generous space for those travelling in the back seats. Details which are elements of the new Peugeot branding include the latest coat of arms design embedded in a grille the same colour as the bodywork. Volkswagen previews ID.2 electric car

Volkswagen revealed a new small electric car as a concept today in Hamburg, writes Brian Byrne. The ID.2all was a preview to a production car that will go on sale in 2025. The ID.2 is the size of a Polo, and Volkswagen are planning to pitch its price point below €25,000. No details of the car’s powertrain were given.
