Australian PM Anthony Albanese's visit to Papua New Guinea deferred to 2023

The Scheduled visit of Australian Prime Minister to PNG has been deferred to early 2023 Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has received news that his counterpart Anthony Albanese will not be able to come to Papua New Guinea from the 12 and 13 December as planned. Prime Minister Marape said his counterpart has tested positive for COVID and is currently isolating therefore his planned visit has now been rescheduled to 2023. He wishes for Prime Minister Albanese full recovery and looks forward to his visit early next year. Papua New Guinea has had a unique and long shared history and Australia is one of Papua New Guinea’s important development partners. He knows the visit and corresponding meetings that will occur during the visit will help enhance and strengthen our already strong friendship that has our shared history embedded in it. Magod Falls: A Colossal Monsoon Spectacle

It is one of the most magnificent waterfalls of Karnataka that becomes a thundering spectacle of water tumbling down in torrents amidst pristine forests of the Western Ghats. Add to it the persistent drizzle and/or rains, consistent mist cover, fresh green vegetation and you have a dream monsoon holiday destination. Somewhere between Sirsi and Yellapur and surrounded by the dense forests of the Western Ghats, the Bedti river takes 3 turns and drops close to 660 feet in 2 steps to form the mighty Magod falls. The Magod falls view point is located on the opposite hill and this allows you to see the entire spectacle from different view points across different elevations. The walk between these various view points is an experience in itself as during the rains this entire trail is covered in mist and one must patiently wait for the mist to clear so that they can see the waterfall view that they could hear all along. Each view point (there are 4 or 5 in total) allows you to enjoy the Magod

Kappil Beach: Sandy beauty hemmed in between the sea and the backwaters

It is kind of similar to the iconic Maravanthe beach of Karnataka where the NH 66 highway runs parallel to the Arabian sea and the Sowparnika river. This beach located in Southern Kerala is tucked in between the Arabian Sea and the backwaters of the Edava Narayana lake. And a beautiful road runs right through the heart of it. This road is not any national highway, but it is a cosy stretch with coconut palms on its sandy banks and to one side is the green water of the lake while on the other is the blue sea. I am talking about the offbeat Kappil beach that is located right between Kollam and Varkala . Just 7 kms to the north of the more popular Varkala beach, Kappil beach is more a hit with the locals. They prefer its remote location, quiet atmosphere, scenic backwaters and ample water sports options. It is the kind of place where you and your family can have a peaceful beach holiday with your own picnic lunch. And when you feel like some adventure, you can indulge in some water sports

Car registrations up

Registrations of new cars for the first two months of 2023 are up 9.4pc on the same period last year, according to figures from Ireland’s motor trade organisation SIMI, writes Brian Byrne. Within that, sales of electric cars are showing much higher growth, up 37.5pc on the 2022 first two months. Electric vehicles are now at 14.56pc of total new car registrations, led by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (above)from the VW ID.4, the Hyundai Kona, Kia EV6 and BMW i4. Petrol cars represent almost a third of a third of engine types, followed by diesel at 23.32pc, and hybrid at 19.16pc. The top selling car brands so far this year are Toyota, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Skoda and Kia. Light Commercial Vehicle sales are up 11pc on last year.
