Air Niugini Increases Services and Upgrades Lae flights to Boeing 737 Aircraft

Air Niugini has upgraded and increased flights on its busy route to Nadzab airport in Lae following the completion of runway improvement works by National Airports Corporation (NAC). The move will provide a new level of comfort to our customers travelling to and from Lae and allow Air Niugini to increase capacity especially during peak periods, allowing Papua New Guineans to arrive home in time to celebrate Christmas and New Year with families and loved ones. The airline operated its first Boeing 737 commercial flight into Nadzab airport just before Independence on Thursday 15th September, and the B737 aircraft will now become a regular sight at Nadzab over the coming months and years. Air Niugini’s General Manager Commercial and Distribution, Mr Paul Abbot said, “Lae is the largest transport and industrial hub for the Momase region, and a key centre for the Papua New Guinea economy as a whole. “The Boeing 737-800 can carry up to 144 passengers per flight (16 Business and 128 Economy)

Ford looks to patent 'repossession' tech

One of the features of the ever more connected car is that carmakers are increasingly ‘over the air’ in charge of many functions, writes Brian Byrne. In the same way that we have got used to the operating systems in our phones and computers being automatically updated across the internet, this is happening in many of the latest new cars which are ‘always on’ connected to base by proprietary online systems. For extra services owners can subscribe via a monthly fee. But that electronic ‘street’ is very much a two-way thing, and the extra services can be disabled if the subscription is ceased.  Ford is one manufacturer looking at bringing that control a step further. In the US is is trying to patent a system for disabling a car over the air if the buyer hasn’t kept up repayments on the vehicle. The company’s application for a patent titled “Systems and Methods to Repossess a Vehicle” was published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) last week. Looks like the ‘Repo Man

So join English horticulturists Simon and Lorna as they make their way around the garden for the first time, pointing out interesting plants that catch their eye and discuss the relevant landscaping as they pass through.
