 With an election that is fast turning out to be the worst in the country’s history, incumbent Prime Minister James Marape’s overseas trip to the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) meeting is wrong morally and in principle. Every leader at the PIF will be wanting to know how the National General Elections is turning out in Papua New Guinea? How is James Marape going to respond to their queries? How is he going to explain why some parts of the country are yet to poll but he has been declared the country’s first MP? How is he going to explain the economic stagnation, the lowest vaccination rate of all countries in the Pacific and the non-payment of COVID-19 bills and the death of the mining and forestry industries among all the other ills of the largest Pacific Island nation? PNG Elections : Manasseh Makiba wins Margarima Open Seat

 PANGU Party has secured another seat in this election bringing its total to three so far.  Manasseh Makiba was officially declared at 11:55am as the elected Member of Parliament for Magarima Open.  The M-P declared now puts his foot into history, as the first representative for the recently established Magarima District.  This followed completion of secondary vote count on Sunday.  Mr. Manasseh polled to victory after the 17th exclusion, with a vote tally of 20, 753.  While runner up for the open seat of Magarima Paul Agiru finished with 15, 482 votes.  Prime Minister James Marape was declared a week ago and his deputy John Rosso was declared in Lae last night.  Pic: Makiba (front left) in green Pangu Party cap watches on.
