Andapanga Baliawe maintains lead as Port Moresby North-East heads into Third of Eliminations

Counting for the Moresby North East Open seat heads into the third day of eliminations this morning. After Exclusion 38, progressive tally as of 10:30am this morning sees independent candidate Andapanga Baliawe maintaining the top spot with 10,654 votes followed closely by sitting MP and PANGU Pati candidate, John Kaupa with 10,290 votes.  In third place is Advance Party candidate Peter Dominic with 6,713 votes and in the fourth spot is former MP and Nation Action Party candidate, Labi Kamiak Amaiu with  6,170 votes. PNG Government Agencies to attend COP27 in Egypt next month

Papua New Guinea will be well represented at the annual international climate change negotiations, the Conference of Parties or COP 27 in Egypt next month. Climate Change and Development Authority’s acting Managing Director,  William Lakain echoed this during a recent weeklong training of key government agencies who will be attending the meeting. These government agencies are CCDA, the National Energy Authority, the PNG Forest Authority, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Department of Works and Highways, the Office of the State Solicitors, the Department of National Planning and Monitoring, and the Department of Prime Minister and NEC among other key agencies. The week-long negotiation training ended successfully preparing participants from key government agencies for the annual COP 27 scheduled for November 6 to the18. PNG PM Marape calls on Intelligence Organisations to investigate transactions

PNG  Prime Minister   James Marape says he is surprised to read an investigative report published by foreign media on alleged financial transactions involving former senior managers of PNG Ports and an Australian businessman PM Marape says he also has no knowledge of the alleged financial transactions or the relationships between former senior management of PNG Ports, the PNG Ports operator International Container Terminal Services International (ICTSI) or Australian businessman Don Matheson as mentioned in the report circulated. A joint investigative report was published on March 2 by Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on a Manila-based multinational ports operator, ICTSI, that allegedly transferred funds into Matheson’s Singapore company account that then paid perks to senior officials of PNG Ports. The Prime Minister said the report, published and circulated online, had nothing to do with him as he had no knowledge

PNG Prime Minister Meets with France President Emmanuel Macron

 Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape says his bilateral meeting with France President H.E. Emmanuel Macron is very good for relationships between France and Papua New Guinea. He said this after the two leaders met in Libreville, Gabon, on the sidelines of the ‘One Forest Summit’ on Thursday, March 2, 2023.
