Papua New Guinea Proclaims King Charles III as Head of State

Papua New Guinea has  formally proclaimed King Charles III as head of State. The proclamation ceremony took place outside the Papua New Guinea Parliament House this morning.  The proclamation of Charles as monarch comes following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, last Friday.  Papua New Guinea Proclaims King Charles III as Head of State  [Photo by NBC News PNG] The Queen died at the age of 96.  King Charles III has had a long-standing relationship with Papua New Guinea over the years.   He first visited the country in 1966 as the Prince of Wales and was also present to officially open the House of Legislation in 1984. IRC Receives PNGHRI 2022 best performing Public Sector Organization Award

The Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) received an award from the Papua New Guinea Human Resource Institute (PNGHRI) as one of the Best Performing Public Sector Organizations for 2022. The Governor-General, His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, presented the Award at the Crown Hotel, Port Moresby, today. In accepting the Award, Commissioner General Sam Koim thanked the Chairman and Council of PNGHRI for recognizing the progress made by IRC so far. He said, “I dedicate this Award to all the hardworking staff and management of the IRC who know more about tax than I do. I am just a figurehead of the organization of dynamic people.” “Unfortunately, there is no benchmarking in the public sector to measure our performances; maturity model where we will measure our progress towards it, so every agency is doing its own thing. Best Mediterranean Gardens - S'Hort del Rei, Palma, Mallorca (Aka. Majorca)

Join horticulturist Simon and Lorna as they take a walk around the S’Hort del Rei in Palma, Mallorca (Majorca). We wouldn’t say that this was a flourishing garden or even one that is particularly well-maintained, but it is undoubtedly hugely historic and sited on the outskirts of the superb Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma and 13th century Palace de l’Almudaina. The very name of S’Hort del Rei means King’s garden so you are literally walking in the footsteps of  Royalty! The problem with this garden as well as the other public gardens and spaces in Mallorca is that they are not valued, maintained or respected by those responsible. So while the original design of the gardens is truly lovely and clearly thought through the grounds have not been maintained and left to degrade (hence the number of fenced off areas).
