QUICK GUIDE TO THE LONDON VEGAN SCENE

London is consistently thought of as one of the most vegan cities in the world – HappyCow voted it ‘best vegan city’ two years in a row, veganlondon.co.uk calls it ‘one of the most vegan friendly cities in the world’ and it apparently also has the most vegan restaurants in the world. But this can be a blessing and a curse – if you’re only in London a week or a weekend, how do you choose which restaurants are the best? And what about cafes? Best Vegan Restaurants London To be honest, I haven’t come across a vegan restaurant in London that I didn’t like, I was really impressed with the vegan scene in London really. So I wouldn’t worry about it too much, but if you want my opinion, these are my favourites (Disclaimer: I haven’t (yet) been to every single vegan cafe or restaurant in London, but these are my favourites so far): #1. Mildred’s A London institution, Mildred’s has been running for over 30 years(!) – the London chain has expanded in recent years as demand has increased. Branches

Air Niugini Receives Certificate of Accreditation on Dangerous Goods Training

Air Niugini has received its Certificate of Accreditation on Dangerous Goods (DG) training from International Air Transport Association (IATA), focusing on Competency-based Training and Assessments (CBTA) guidelines. This is a first, for an airline in PNG! Air Niugini’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Gary Seddon said the accreditation followed a stringent review of the dangerous goods regulations.  CBTA is a new, mandated method of conducting and assessing DG training by International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and IATA. He said “The accreditation means the Air Niugini Training school can provide internationally recognized dangerous goods training qualifications with co-branded IATA certification. This further supports Air Niugini’s DG training reputation across the region.” “The IATA accreditation process is an intensive one and I commend all Air Niugini staff involved,” Mr Seddon said. Dangerous goods are restricted articles, hazardous materials and items that may endanger t

Mazda showcases CX-90, but not for Europe

Mazda has premiered its latest model from its Large Product Group, the CX-90, but it won’t be coming to Europe, writes Brian Byrne. The car is an 8-seat SUV designed primarily for markets where larger cars are common, in particular the US. The CX-90 will be powered by a 3.3 mild hybrid 6-cylinder engine or a full plug-in hybrid based on the company’s 2.5 four. The next model planned to debut for Europe is the CX-80, a 7-seat which will follow the CX-60 launched late last year.

Government plans to cut car use in cities and towns

Image: Ferliana Febritasari via Pexels. The Government is planning to cut car use in cities and towns by 20pc over the next seven years by what it calls ‘demand management’ strategies, writes Brian Byrne. In a Memorandum of Information to Government today, Transport minister Eamon Ryan says the strategy will also feature ‘unprecedented’ levels of investment in public transport and active travel facilities. The strategy will take a year to complete. It was outlined as a key action in the Climate Action Plan 2023. The demand management measures will include road space reallocation, car-free zones, and user charging. Minister Ryan says the transport system today is overly-reliant on the car, bringing ‘daily traffic chaos and lower quality of life’. The strategy being developed will provide a ‘road-map’ of guiding principles for measures that could be used at local level. There will be widespread public consultation, the Memorandum brought to Government today says.
