VEGAN TRAVEL IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

Southeast Asia has a very special place in my heart because it’s the place where the seeds of veganism were officially planted into my head (I saw a dead dog at the meat market 🙁 ). I’ve lived in Bangkok, house sat in Chiang Mai and travelled across Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, Thailand and Singapore. Whilst I’m loathe to put these unique countries with their unique histories and cultures into one box of sweeping statements, it still can’t be denied: the food in Southeast Asia is incredible. Yes, even for travelling vegans. In this (hopefully useful) guide, I’m giving a quick overview of the eight Southeast Asian countries I’ve personally travelled vegan in (with an invitation for you to add your own tips for Myanmar, Brunei and East Timor). As is my usual ‘style’, I’m laying out (pun intended?) the accidentally vegan foods of each country as well as the traditional foods of the countries and how t...

Cruising Indonesia - The Best Destinations to Visit

Our world is full of hidden gems that are yet to be discovered. Until then, we can all enjoy and visit the most beautiful countries that exist. Indonesia is one of them. In the following, we will present to you the top Indonesian islands that are worth your time, because of the goods they offer. A whole new experience for you, and it’s right in front of you, so get it! Plan before-hand Indonesia is home to some of the most beautiful islands in the world, and we want...

Review: Suzuki S-Cross Hybrid - Brian Byrne, Irish Car

Whenever I get back into a Suzuki I’m reminded of how good they are, writes Brian Byrne. Well built, well finished, and not trying to be a Starship Enterprise in style or conquer the universe ambition. Their cars are generally for everyday real people and their real needs. The S-Cross small SUV is a good example. Sitting in the space that includes Peugeot’s 2008 and Volkswagen’s T-Roc, the S-Cross originally evolved from a hatchback called SX4, and the latest version of the vehicle was launched in Ireland almost exactly a year ago. The style is chunky and strong without being aggressive. A good word for the overall impression is ‘tidy’. It sits high enough to make getting in and out easy, but isn’t particularly tall in itself. That tidy epithet is also appropriate inside. Dashboard style and trim have enough shapes to be interesting, and in both areas are finished in high quality materials with a notably good fit and finish. The high-mounted centre infotainment screen is small enough t...
