Tips for Travelling Vegan in Ireland

Ireland, with it’s extremely friendly people and vibrantly green wildlife, is a bucket-list destination for most. The main port of entry is Dublin Airport, if you are arriving by air the airport offers a good range of both car and campervan rental options, and pieces are fair in my estimation. (Btw if anyone is interested: I used MPV Rentals as we like to hire a 7 seater for the extra space and comfort on longer journeys…. niceeee rideee, highly recommended!) Vegan Ireland Ostensibly for (English-speaking) vegans Ireland seems like a walk in the park with one of the official languages being English (aka no language barrier) and with over 13 vegan restaurants in Dublin. But what’s it like in reality? And, more importantly, is Guinness vegan? I spent a week exploring the west coast of Ireland and this is what I found: Accidentally Vegan Traditional Irish Recipes? As a travelling vegan, I try to keep my meals as traditional as possible, whilst still keeping them meat, fi...

PNG Finance and Tax Headquarters Locked out

The Papua New Guinea Finance Department and  Internal Revenue Commission IRC headquarters in Port Moresby have been locked out.  Officers from the nation’s tax office were locked out of the Revenue Haus building in downtown Port Moresby this morning by the landlord Nambawan Super Limited (NSL). This also includes the doors to Vulupindi Haus at Waigani, which houses the National Department of Finance. Both the Revenue Haus and Vulupindi Haus are owned by NSL. Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) Sam Koim told the media this morning that as a lawyer, he understands the landlord for exercising their right over non-payment of rental arrears by the Government.  He clarified that if IRC was responsible for its own debts, it would have cleared its rental arrears totalling K12 million.  However, this responsibility has been centralised to the Department of Finance.  The IRC Commissioner is unsure at this stage when the office will be reopened for normal business.  NBC New...

PNG Lacks Mechanisms to regulate Carbon Trade Projects

Papua New Guinea is currently unable to effectively regulate the influx of carbon trade projects in the provinces. Climate Change and Development Authority’s Measurement Reporting and Verification (MRV) and National Communication (NC) Division’s Acting General Manager Debra Sungi, say the country lacks the regulatory mechanisms to regulate these projects. Ms. Sungi said CCDA is tasked to address the authorization approval, by way of the development of the regulations.  At this stage, CCDA has completed one on one consultations with key agencies within the sectors of Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land-Use (AFOLU) and Energy sector.  A validation workshop was hosted today by the CCDA to gain stakeholders’ support and views on the draft PNG Carbon Markets (Management) (Carbon Market) Regulation 2022 and to improve the draft regulation going forward. MS Sungi says the draft Climate Change (Management) Carbon Market Regulations 2022 is expected to be formalized and endorsed bef...

Port Moresby and Vietnam's Da Nang Sister-city Initiative

Discussions are underway to establish a sister-city initiative between Papua New Guinea’s Capital Port Moresby and Da Nang city in Vietnam. This was agreed to in a bilateral meeting between Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko and Vietnam’s Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son during the APEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand. PNG Minister Tkatchenko, who is also the Member for Moresby South, said he fully supports the initiative, because it opens many opportunities for the nations capital. Vietnam’s Foreign Minister said Da Nang is one of the fastest growing cities in Vietnam and is an attraction for tourism and other sectors. NCD Governor Powes Parkop, who also sat in the meeting, expressed keen interest in the management systems that Vietnam employed to maximise their Special Economic Zones.  He said Vietnam is leading in terms of that model of stimulating that economy and creating employment and businesses – an area Port Moresby can venture into mainly in agriculture, fisheries and ...

Biggest Myth: 51% attack Is Impossible & Bitcoin Is Unstoppable – Chapter[2.11] R[25]

Biggest Myth: Bitcoin is Unstoppable! There is no harm in day dreaming especially when you live in the crypto-world. History always repeats itself. A monetary monster can never tolerate another monster in its territory but when it does, its only as per its prescheduled will. Bitcoin has a lot of security vulnerabilities but I will discuss the most possible one here that even scares Satoshi Nakamoto (Nick Szabo) as he mentioned this possibility 3-4 times in his white paper by saying in the introductory paragraph: The system is secure as long as honest nodes collectively control more CPU power than any cooperating group of attacker nodes . The CPU power that drives the bitcoin blockchain , comes from the miners. These miners help to run the system, yet at the same time if all the collective computer power of these miners is combined under the umbrella of strict government regulations through power and force, the bitcoin network can easily be brought under full control . 2.24 2.23 ...
