The deferral of polling in the nation’s capital has had a huge impact on the general business community in the city. Businesses in Port Moresby suffer Substantial Losses due to deferral of Polling  The PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed grave concern about the way the 2022 national election is taking place. President Ian Tarutia says business houses anticipate a positive outcome from this election, however, they do not want to see any further delays in the processes. The Chamber also supports the call made by Transparency International and the Catholic Church to stop the blame game issue and focus on delivering a successful election outcome. He said “The business community are important stakeholders in our country, in our economy and yet they are not given the due respect that they deserve as employers of our people. Fuel restrictions affect Flights in PNG

Flights in Papua New Guinea are affected following restrictions on fuel supply.  PNG’s airline, Air Niugini has announced that it is cancelling all flights in the country after fuel supplier failed to supply fuel to the airline. The airline released the following statement.  ///  Air Niugini wishes to advise the travelling public that due to issues with Puma Energy accessing. US Dollars , Puma has decided to suspend the supply of Jet A1 fuel within PNG including to Air Niugini and all other airlines effective from today. This restriction applies to Port Moresby and all the airports around PNG. Unfortunately there is no alternative supplier of aviation fuel in most airports, including Port Moresby. Consequently Air Niugini is forced to announce that all domestic flights from 0001 tomorrow (Thursday 5 January) have had to be cancelled due to Puma Energy’s refusal to supply Jet A1 fuel to the airlines. These cancelations will have to be ongoing until Puma’s restrictions are removed. ...
