The Marape Government has vowed to work closely with key government agencies in combating corruption in Papua New Guinea.  PNG’s Acting Prime Minister John Rosso said this at the launch of the new Annual Statement by the Ombudsman Commission in Port Moresby last Friday. Mr. Rosso says the government cannot tackle corruption alone, and needs a collective effort from every individual, including government agencies. Papua New Guinea is ranked among the top 50 countries in the world that’s been perceived as highly corrupted. The 2021 corruption perception index by Transparency International has indicated a slight improvement from 142 out of 180 countries in 2020 to a rank of 124 last year. However, more work is needed. Peugeot Ireland has launched the new generation 408 here at a starting price of €39,995, writes Brian Byrne. In a fastback styling that changes the marketing space for the model, the new 408 has a 130hp petrol automatic at launch, with 180hp and 225hp plug-in hybrid options arriving soon and a fully-electric one planned.
