Papua New Guinea’s leadership must not be stolen or taken through electoral fraud. Former Prime Minister and re-elected Member for Ialibu Pangia, Peter O’Neill said this at a media conference in Port Moresby, today-Thursday,28th July 2022. PNG Trade Minister Maru Welcomes Australia's Support for Special Economic Zones in PNG

Papua New Guinea’s Minister for International Trade and Investment, Richard Maru has welcomed the Australian Government’s support to work with Papua New Guinea on the development of Special Economic Zones or SEZs in the country. Minister Maru appreciated the offer during his meeting with the Australian High Commissioner to PNG, Jon Philp in Port Moresby. Maru has been in plans to work with the Australian Government and investors in the Manus Special Economic Region and the Western Province SEZ. He’s keen on working with the Australian Government and investors to look into the development of the feed industry, cotton industry, cattle industry, and chicken industry of PNG. Maru is adamant PNG needs more competition across all industries and new industries to replace imports, create jobs, and create wealth for its citizens. PNG Opposition Calls on Police to act : Ban Social Media Platforms

 Papua New Guinea Opposition Leader Joseph Lelang is disturbed by the social media post, showing a picture of a young girl stripped naked and helplessly at the hands of hooligans up in Tari. In a media statement, Mr Lelang is calling on the Government to ban social media platforms. Mr Lelang being angry over this, says these culprits should be dealt with by the law immediately within 24 or 48 hours. “Normalcy and morality no longer exist in this society. What kind of society are we trying to raise our future generation – why are we waiting this long, we need the police to act and apprehend these culprits,” he said this furiously. A child among eight dead in PNG's East Sepik 7.3 magnitude earthquake

At least, eight  people are dead after the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that rocked  Papua New Guinea’s East Sepik Province on Monday. This was confirmed by the Provincial Disaster Office to NBC East Sepik. It said in Angoram district, three lives were lost in Karawari Local Level Government. The LLG President there Emil Kongian told NBC News that of the three, a mother and child were killed in Kundiman village, and another woman passed away in Konmei village, as many were trying to seek medical attention. A 13-year old girl was also instantly killed by a falling timber as she was asleep when the earthquake hit. Many more sustained injuries from the massive earthquake.
