PNG Parliament Speaker Job Pomat retains Manus Open Seat

Incumbent  Manus MP and  PNG Parliament speaker  Job Pomat has retained his Manus Open Seat, after being declared member-elect this morning. Mr. Pomat polled 9,186 votes exceeding the absolute majority in the 34th exclusion. This will be his second term in Parliament. Mr. Pomat  who contested under the Pangu Party was officially declared the Manus Open member-elect by Returning Officer Theresa Yohang at 8:30am this morning. He acknowledged all Manusians for trusting in his leadership, including the Electoral Commission and security personnel for facilitating and ensuring safe elections in the province. He had maintained a steady lead from the primary counts while former MP Ronnie Knight, and Lynne Ozzane Ronnie collected votes that saw them occupying the 2nd and 3rd positions through much of the race. Policewomen in PNG Encouraged to rise, Overcome and embrace equity

Policewomen in Papua New Guinea have been encouraged to “embrace equity” as part of their future to contribute to developing a world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. The encouragement was made by the Acting Commander of the Papua New Guinea Australia Policing Partnership (PNGAPP) Superintendent Brett Kidner in his opening remarks at the International Women’s Day (IWD) observation last week. IWD is a global event celebrated for social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It started in the early 1900’s stemming from the fights for equal rights by women in the United States.
