PNG Government appoints Elizabeth Genia as Acting Governor of Bank of PNG

A senior female officer has for the first time been appointed the Acting Governor of the Bank of Papua New Guinea.  PNG Prime Minister James Marape in a statement announced that Elizabeth Genia who has 35 years of experience serving in the bank has been given the role. He said the timely appointment is based on merit and has nothing to do with former acting governor Benny Popoitai’s competence. Also, the constitution does not allow for an extension on the acting appointment for another six months. Mr. Marape has directed the process of a permanent appointment to be fast-tracked and looks forward to working with Mrs. Genia. PNG Ombudsman Commission Opens Office in Enga Province

 By Samuel Raitano | FM 100  Ombudsman Commission has opened it’s new office at Wabag town, Enga Province to serve the Western end of the Highlands Region. The opening ceremony was held yesterday (Friday) at Wabag town.  The celebrations and opening speeches were done at the town grandstand before the official opening of the office by the Minister for Justice and Attorney General Pila Niningi. Chief Ombudsman Richard Pagen said Ombudsman Commission was pleased to see a new office which will focus on honest and effective service delivery to the people of the three provinces in the western end of the Highlands region.
