PNG Election : New Date for the return of Writs Gazetted

The new and extended deadline for the return of writs for the 2022 PNG National Elections has now been gazetted. The gazetted deadline is 5th August 2022, moved back from the initially announced date of 12th August 2022. The Gazette No. G597 has been signed off by the Governor General, Sir Bob Dadae today enforcing the decision to extend the date based on special circumstances to allow for a majority of the writs to be delivered to the Head of State. The Electoral Commission now has a week to compile and return the writs by Friday, 5th August at 4pm. Meanwhile, Prime Minister James Marape said this was because the decision to defer the return of writs to August 12 has not been gazetted. Marape says Parliament is expected to sit on August 9th, 2022. Mr Marape, in a media conference this afternoon, urged all counting officials around the country to assist in speeding up the process to meet the deadline. PNG Superfund Opens New-look Member Service Centres

 The Papua New Guinea National Superannuation Fund, Nasfund, today welcomed two new-look Member  Service Centres to its branch network. The Waigani, and Port Moresby Member Service Centres were officially opened today, witnessed by Nasfund Directors, Executive Management, Staff, and members.  Speaking at the occasion, Nasfund Chief Executive Officer Ian Tarutia reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to continually improving its service to members. “The Waigani Member Service Centre is our new flagship branch, as it provides members  with the full array of services that the Fund provides.  This new facility is the largest service center we have out of our 21 branches throughout the country.  It has 10 counters, two meeting rooms, and can accommodate over 70 members at any one time, which provides an environment that is comfortable and functional for our staff to work in and for members to be served.  The National Capital District, and Central Province constitutes the largest portion of our me...

VW premiere their new ID.7

Volkswagen have released details of their new large electric car, the ID.7 which will go on sale in Ireland towards the end of this year, writes Brian Byrne. The car is a saloon in format and will be the flagship of the brand’s electric car range. A rated range of up to 700km is claimed for the ID.7, which also features a brand new electric motor system and furthers VW’s stated ambition to be selling only electric cars in Europe by 2033. Volkswagen say they have emphasised a high quality appearance, and the car will have a new style of display. Very smooth aerodynamics will contribute to the ID.7’s range efficiency.
