Sasindran Muthuvel Retains West New Britain Regional Seat

Incumbent Governor for West New Britain Province and PANGU Pati candidate Sasindran Muthuvel has been re-elected as the Regional Member. This will be his third term in Parliament. Mr. Muthuvel was declared member-elect by Provincial Returning Officer Emily Kelton at 6:25pm today. He polled 47,878 votes, surpassing the absolute majority of 46,499. In second place place was former Police Commissioner and People’s National Congress Party candidate Gari Baki with 45,118 votes. Mr. Muthuvel is the second PANGU Pati candidate to be declared in the province, after Nakanai Open member Francis Galia Maneke yesterday. PNG To conduct National Census in 2023

The Papua New Guinea government will carry out the National Census for the country will commence in 2023. The country’s Prime Minister James Marape announced this in Parliament yesterday. He said this to prepare for the upcoming elections, as well as having an identification system for the country. The last national census was held in PNG in 2011. It was supposed to be carried out in 2021 but never eventuated. “We will do a deep census next year and on into 2024 so that by 2025, our nation is totally certain on our population. You are a real person living in our country, and ID system whether it’s a physical ID or a biometric based ID.” “These are things we are looking at. Pacific Islands Leaders arrive in PNG for FIPIC

 More Pacific Island leaders arrived in Port Moresby last night for the third summit of the Forum for India Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC), jointly hosted by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Honourable James Marape. The ‘Recharge’ suffix used by Volvo cars can be somewhat confusing, writes Brian Byrne. Initially used for any version of one of its models that had an electric drive component, it could mean petrol-hybrid, plug-in petrol hybrid, or a fully electric car.
