BSP Closes Chuave and Mendi Branch Doors - Porgera Branch Remains Closed

  BSP Financial Group Limited (BSP) has been forced to shut the doors of four if its branches in the Highlands and Momase regions following security concerns, mostly related to the 2022 National General Elections.  Porgera branch in Enga, Koroba Hybrid Branch in Hela, Chuave Sub Branch in Simbu, and Kabwum and Mutzing Sub Branches in Morobe all remain closed.   The operations of BSP Mendi Branch in Southern Highlands has also been disrupted in the past week. BSP Group CEO, Robin Fleming upon confirming this said, BSP Sub Branches in Koroba, Kabwum, Mutzing, and just yesterday Chuave, have closed their doors due to security issues related to the 2022 National General Elections while, BSP Porgera branch was closed last month following tribal fighting in the Porgera valley. PNG PM Marape returns home from Overseas Engagements

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape returned to the country yesterday afternoon-(Wednesday 5th October 2022) following his three weeks official visit oversea.  Mr Marape told reporters upon his arrival that almost a month-long visit has been hectic but fruitful.  They were able to make contacts at the highest level with leaders of the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and the United States of America.  Marape says the four nations are big economies with huge GDP’s and we are having high-level discussions based on our long-time bilateral relationship. ”Our meetings and discussions consolidate the relationship and this time our discussions are geared towards us ramping up our production and them receiving whatever we produce. ”The onus is now on us as government to put our money where the mouth is, and to put programs to action to increase production of cocoa, oil palm, coffee and fisheries and not just Gold, Copper and Gas,” said Marape.    NBC News / PNG ...

Deep in the West Sussex countryside, Highdown gardens has an enormous amount of horticultural history attached to it and rightly so. Originally a working chalk quarry it was purchased by Sir Frederick Stern in 1909 who, against the advice of the contemporary leading horticulturists created what would have been a world class garden in the wonderful countryside of what is now the South Downs national park.  Groundbreaking in his attempt to grow anything he could get his hands in his chalky soils, he managed to prove many of those around him wrong.
