PNG Election : Tketchenko retains Moresby South Open Seat

Member-elect for Moresby South, Justin Tkatchenko, says he’s humbled and overwhelmed by the huge support shown by the people in the electorate to return him back into Parliament this year. Returning Officer, Tau Toea, declared Mr Tkatchenko winner at the Rita Flynn counting centre this afternoon, after Mr. Tkatchenko polled 28,111 first preferential votes, and went past the absolute majority of 23,310 votes. Mr Tkatchenko, a Social Democratic Party candidate, promised to serve the electorate and bring bigger and better services to the electorate than ever before.    Social Democratic Party Leader and National Capital District Governor, Powes Parkop, and PANGU Party Leader James Marape, were also at hand to witness the official declaration.  Moresby South is the first electorate in the National Capital District to declare a winner. Mr. Tkatchenko’s declaration now brings to two SDP Members, after the declaration of Central Bougainville’s Simon Dumarinu on Wednesday. NBC / PNG Today Next

WHAT I TRAVEL WITH AS A VEGAN: 10 KITCHEN TOOLS FOR FULL-TIME VEGAN TRAVEL

Although I have a little bit of an obsession when it comes to traveling light, as a travelling vegan I do personally believe there are some things you can’t afford to not take with you. It will of course depend a little on how you travel – if you’re going to stay exclusively in hotels and don’t intend to cook then this post isn’t for you. But for someone like me I hope this post will be useful. I’m someone who travels long term, lives in places with kitchens, likes to cook a lot (read: likes to eat my partner’s cooking a lot). 10 Kitchen Tools For Full-Time Vegan Travel Because we often go for budget places, the kitchens aren’t always ‘up to scratch’. There are many kitchen appliances that you can either go without or wouldn’t be feasible to take with you (e.g. a slow cooker or a dehumidifier). So the things on these post are (hopefully) a) useful b) practical and c) (in my opinion) indispensable. Let me know what you think! #1. A sharp knife + a knife sharpener I know this sounds pre

Blog Tour - Dark Stranger by Susan Sizemore (& Giveaway - closed)

CONGRATS TO LUCKY WINNER – SUE!         Readers, please join me welcoming New York Times and USA Today bestseller Susan Sizemore , author of Dark Stranger who’s guest blogging here today! DARK STRANGER (Pocket Star, 384 pp, Isbn:978-1416562139) is a fun, fresh “extra” in the Vampire Primes romance series, featuring a vampire hero who rescues a captured human princess-in-disguise in a futuristic paranormal world. But don’t worry! This also makes a great stand-alone. Thanks to Sarah of Pocket Books, I was able to request Susan to write about how difficult or different it is to write a vampire into a futuristic romance and here is her great response! I’ve been asked to blog about how difficult it is to write a vampire into a futuristic romance. This is a fantastic topic! First off, I have to say that I do not believe in “real” vampires. It’s my job to make myself and readers believe in the fictional vampires I create. It’s not just the vampires that have to seem real, but the world the

Winter Garden - Excerpt & Giveaway

One of the numerous books I read last year was Kristin Hannah’s Winter Garden – a novel of mothers and daughters, times and tribulations. While the story was overall very interesting, there were aspects of it that made me terribly sad. I put it down, picked it up again, put it down again and so on. As a result, it was quite a while before I could finish this heart-wrenching story. Read more »
