PNG PM Marape Strongly Condemns Jacksons International Airport Saga

 PNG Prime Minister Hon. James Marape, MP has strongly condemned the National Airport Corporation (NAC) saga and has directed a full investigation into the sabotaging of Jacksons International Airport operations. The airport came to a complete stop in the morning of Saturday, November 12, 2022, when the airport security blocked off the airport – affecting daily operations of international and domestic flights. PM Marape directed the National Security Advisory Committee, in a National Security Council meeting the same day, to: • Take full carriage of the incident; • institute an independent investigation to ascertain exactly what had happened; and • Charge those involved in this incident. In a brief presented at the meeting, the incident had everything to do with the arrest of National Airport Corporation Managing-Director, Rex Kiponge.  PM Marape directed a full investigation into the mayhem and wants those involved to be charged forthwith. “I want a complete report on this gross ...

BMW i5 scores high in winter testing

BMW has been winter-testing what will be the first all-electric 5 Series sedan, writes Brian Byrne. The i5 had already been journeyed in Arctic conditions a year ago, but this latest round of extreme weather in Sweden last month  has been fine-tuning powertrain and chassis control systems using frozen lakes test areas, BMW says the results show the car performs ‘at least as proficiently’ as any conventionally powered vehicle in such conditions. 

Tropical Grardens UK: Wisley Exotic December Walk-round

Yes the weather is freezing. Yes it is the middle of December, but unlike our own garden which is sited in the milder climates of the south coast, the Exotic garden at RHS Wisley still has structure, seasonal colour, and a number of surprises that we didn’t expect to see!  The Fuschias and Abutilons are still in flower and despite a number of the key plants being wrapped in anticipation of winter frosts many of the specimen plants still have excellent ornamental value. In fact, now that some of the stock has died back or have been cut back to ground level other plants which were hidden in the greenery are now showing the splendour – in particular we found an amazing and extremely rare variegated Trachycarpus palm!
