Enga elections to be failed if violence persists warns PNG Police Chief

 Papua New Guinea Police Commissioner David Manning has warned that he will recommend to the PNG Electoral Commission to declare failed elections for the Enga Province if the violence, death and destruction continues. Commissioner Manning made this remark following an upsurge in lawlessness within the last 72 hours in parts of the Enga Province. Papua New Guinea Police Commissioner David Manning Mr Manning said a joint task force comprising of military and police personnel will be established and inserted into the Enga Province at the earliest to restore law and order. Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey when presenting the 2023 Budget in Parliament today said the money plan is the largest investment in the history of the country. Total revenues will be another record estimate of K19.5b, a 20.9 percent increase from 2022. Mr Ling-Stuckey said the 2023 budget also delivers a billion-kina reduction in the size of deficit down from K5.9b in 2022 to K4.9b in 2023.
