PNG Defense Minister Daki visits University of Goroka Following 7.6 Magnitude Earthquake

THE Papua New Guinea Minister for Defence MP Win Bakri Daki who is also responsible for Natural Disasters throughout the country visited the University of Goroka on Thursday to see first hand damages caused to it’s hall of residence following the recent 7.6  magnitude earthquake. Mr Daki acknowledged the University of Goroka Vice Chancellor Dr Teng Waninga for managing things well on the ground before relief assistance was given. He assured the UOG Management that the Marape-Rosso Government will work with them to assist where needed. Dr Teng Waninga in a meeting with the Minister for Defence said a total of K8m will be needed to secure an alternate accommodation for the 1500 students who have beeb directly displaced from their dormitories after damages to the halls of residence. Dr Waninga said the cost is for accommodation alone for the next 5 to 6 weeks before the academic year ends. GSe versions of Astra, Grandland now to order

Opel Ireland has revealed pricing and equipment details of two GSe performance model variants, writes Brian Byrne. Reviving the performance label which was originally used in Commodore and Monza models back in the 1970s and 1980s, the GSe suffix will now mark Astra and Grandland PHEV versions with high power and fast acceleration, along with dedicated high end specification. An Astra Sports Tourer will get the GSe treatment later this year. The Astra GSe prices start at €52,695 and the Grandland GSe at €59,995. Both are plus delivery charges, and the cars are only available to special order. 

New look, powertrain, for Clio

Renault has carried out a big re-styling of its long-popular Clio, and added a full hybrid powertrain, writes Brian Byrne. Very sharp and techy changes to the front and rear will make the latest version quite a standout on the road, and there are also substantial upgrades to the interior including a new Alpine-level trim option. The car also carries the latest design of the Renault logo. The new 145hp E-Tech hybrid can operates for up to 80pc of the time in electric mode in town driving, according to Renault. More details closer to launch. The Clio nameplate was launched in 1990 and since then some 16 million units have been sold.
