PNG Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso retains Lae Open Seat

Papua New Guinea Deputy Prime Minister and Lae MP John Rosso has been declared on first preferential votes this evening scoring almost 27 thousand votes. Rosso collected 26,864 primary votes reaching 50 per-cent plus one or  absolute majority of the total votes. The votes were received across Lae city from 65 wards. He thanked the people of Lae for showing the confidence and returning him overwhelmingly in his victory speech at the Sir Ignatius Kilage stadium. “Bikpla thank you tru long ol pipol blong Lae disla absolute majority yupela sowim, me tok thank you and I stand very humble before all you peers. PNG Diplomat to be recalled and terminated for Wife assault in Taipei Restaurant, Taiwan

 Papua New Guinea Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko has described the actions of a diplomat who assaulted his wife in public whilst drunk overseas, as disgraceful and deplorable.   Speaking to the media in Port Moresby yesterday, the Minister said the diplomat, based in Taiwan, has been recalled and will be removed permanently from the diplomatic corp.  Mr. Tkatchenko said they will not tolerate such behaviour, especially when PNG is clearly making inroads when it comes to Gender Based Violence. Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko  The Foreign Affairs Minister said the diplomat with the Taiwan Trade mission did an unspeakable act where he assaulted his wife in a drunken rage four weeks ago. Local media in Taiwan reported that the 44-year old man, who worked as a Secretary with the PNG representative office in Taiwan, had assaulted his wife and a Taiwanese restaurant employee at a Taipei City restaurant.  Taiwan media say the wife suffered trauma to the back of her head.

Suzuki launches full-hybrid S-Cross

Suzuki has launched a full-hybrid version of its S-Cross here at a starting price of €31,895, writes Brian Byrne. The car is in addition to the mild-hybrid versions which has been on sale since a year ago. The hybrid system has been developed by Suzuki themselves, and includes an automated manual transmission. It was introduced last year in the brand’s top-seller, the Vitara. In a revised product offering, all automatic S-Crosses will have the full-hybrid while manuals will be powered by the mild hybrid powertrain.
