PNG Elections : IDEC Chair , Pomeleu calls for Counting to be speed up

 Following a briefing with the Electoral Commissioner on Sunday, 24 July 2022, the Secretary to the Department of Prime Minister & National Executive Council and the Chairman of the Interdepartmental Election Committee, Ivan Pomaleu, has again called for counting right across the country to be speeded up. “I have noted that the country has now moved into counting. The writs must be returned by 29th July 2022. That date is the fifth anniversary of this Parliament. This is where the clock stops. We all must make sure we meet the time. I cannot express seriously enough the need for writs to be returned by this Friday.” Secretary Pomaleu has noted that a significant number of provinces are now well and truly into their counting phases. PNG Police will investigate Dr Kwa’s case without fear or favour says Manning

Police Commissioner David Manning says the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary will do its job without fear or favour in relation to the traffic accident involving Secretary for Justice & Attorney General Dr Eric Kwa. Police Commissioner Manning said, “We will not be swayed by public comments and debates but ensure that the law is applied, and justice prevails. “We have reviewed the evidence with the investigators of the case since and are satisfied with the weight of the evidence to support the charge of “Dangerous Driving Causing Death”.
