IFRC Asia Pacific Regioinal Director Visits Papua New Guinea

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Asia Pacific Regional Director Mr. Alexander Matheou arrived in the country on Wednesday for a three-day visit. The Head of IFRC Asia Pacific which supports 38 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies including Papua New Guinea Red Cross Society is here in the country to see how IFRC can assist PNGRCS to work hand in hand with the Government in playing its auxiliary role to better assist vulnerable people in Papua New Guinea. Mr. Matheou visited the Head Quarter of PNG Red Cross Society after arrival and met with the staff and volunteers from NCD/Central Branch to discuss the problems faced in the country and how we can find strategic solutions to solve these issues moving forward. Indian Prime Minister Modi arrives in PNG for FIPIC Summit

 The Prime Minister for the Republic of India, His Excellency, Shri Narendra Modi, arrived in Port Moresby last night for the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) summit. Indian Prime Minister and his delegation were welcomed at the APEC terminal at Jackson International Airport by PNG traditional dancing groups Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Hon. Manasseh Sogavare, Samoa Prime Minister, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataafa, Vanuatu Prime Minister, Hon. Alatoi Ismael Kalsakau, and New Caledonia President, His Excellency Louis Mapou, as well as other Pacific Island leaders, arrived after lunch yesterday for the summit. The Indian Prime Minister and his delegation were welcomed at the APEC terminal at Jackson International Airport by PNG traditional dancing groups.
