 H.E. Grand Chief Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae, Governor General of Papua New Guinea, has executed on behalf of the State, multi-million Kina contracts for roads and bridges construction for Morobe, Eastern and Western Highlands provinces. The contract agreements fall under the Sustainable Highlands Highway Investment Program Tranche 2 and are for the following: 1. Upgrading and Sealing of road from Yaware to 6km mark along Tambul Kotol Road in Western Highlands and Southern Highlands provinces. The contract is valued at K17, 707, 078. 29, including GST and contingency component and will be funded by the national Government. The National Executive Council has approved the awarding of the contract to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (PNG) Limited.  2. Detailed Design Rehabilitation and Construction of Bridges Between Nadzab, Lae and Henganofi. He made this known after welcoming and meeting the Ambassador of Indonesia to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands His Excellency Andriana Supandy in Kiunga yesterday. He said the Ambassador’s visit marks a significant time in the history of Papua New Guinea and Indonesia in regards to border arrangements. “We are recalling some 37 years ago where a treaty was signed between the two countries for mutual respect, friendship and cooperation and because of that, we have enjoyed that thus far. The treaty was signed on the 27th of October 1986. We are also recalling another agreement between the two countries on border arrangements that was also signed on the 18th of March 2003.” he said.
