PNC Candidate Gabriel Kapris unseats PNG Agriculture Minister John Simon

Papua New Guinea Agriculture Minister John Simon has lost his Maprik Open seat. The Peoples National Congress (PNC) Party candidate, Gabriel Kapris has been declared the Member-elect for the Maprik Open Seat in East Sepik Province following the conclusion of the elimination process. Gabriel Kapris Returning Officer Godfried Sokomia declared Mr. Kapris winner at 4:30 this afternoon, after exclusion 26. He said “I Godfried Sokomia, the Returning Officer for Maprik Open, as accorded by the Electoral Commissioner Mr. Simon Sinai on the 18th of May 2022, hereby, declare Gabriel Lenny Kapris, who received 16,657 votes. Indonesian Ambassador visits PNG's Western Province

By Jim John, in Kiunga Western Province : FM 100 Vice Minister for Mining and Border Development and North Fly MP James Donald is looking forward to change the district and Western Province through a bilateral partnership with Indonesia. He made this known after welcoming and meeting the Ambassador of Indonesia to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands His Excellency Andriana Supandy in Kiunga yesterday. He said the Ambassador’s visit marks a significant time in the history of Papua New Guinea and Indonesia in regards to border arrangements. “We are recalling some 37 years ago where a treaty was signed between the two countries for mutual respect, friendship and cooperation and because of that, we have enjoyed that thus far. The treaty was signed on the 27th of October 1986. We are also recalling another agreement between the two countries on border arrangements that was also signed on the 18th of March 2003.” he said.  By Kevin Teme  A planned meeting between PNG Tourism Promotion Authority and the relevant concerned authorities and partners in bringing an Australian National Rugby Leagure (NRL) Premiership round to Papua New Guinea in the year 2024/2025 went successful on the weekend during the magic round in Brisbane. This is in light of PNGTPA’s drive to develop  Sports Tourism in PNG through its MICE program. Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions; an area which they believe can showcase PNG to the world. and generate greater awareness about PNG as a desirable tourism destination.
