PINA president thanks PIF Secretariate for their Support

The Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) and its Secretariat, have been commended for assisting and working with the Pacific Islands News Association (PINA), over many years.  PINA President and NBC Managing Director, Kora Nou, said this when speaking at a meeting, with the PIF Secretariat, in Suva, Fiji on Thursday. Mr. Nou says  PINA was formed by Pacific Journalists to tell the Pacific stories, and he’s grateful that PIF recognized its role and working with it in the region. The media through PINA, helps to keep the forum accountable when it needs to, and also takes part in the forum’s celebrations, in its milestone achievements. Mr. Nou is currently attending the first proper PINA Board Meeting, since its election in Honiara in September 2022. Kearys teams up with Ohme for charging

Smart-charging company Ohme is the new official charging partner for Kearys Motor Group in Ireland, writes Brian Byrne. The agreement will see Kearys recommend Ohme EV chargers for all of its new and used electrified vehicle sales.  Based in Cork and London, Ohme was one of Ireland’s fastest growing smart-charging companies in 2022 and Kearys Motor Group is Ireland’s largest family-owned motor group, with franchises for BMW, Hyundai, Nissan, Renault and Mini across 12 dealerships and employing 450 people throughout Ireland. Kearys also own Carstore, Ireland’s largest used car supermarket with superstores in Dublin, Cork and Limerick as well as a strong online presence. Ohme’s smart chargers can connect with the national grid in real time and automatically adjust their charging for drivers to take advantage of off-peak tariffs. They also offer the option to charge their car when renewable energy generation on the national grid is at its highest, further lowering their CO2 impact. Ohme w

How to Grow Free Tobacco Plant from Seeds

Growing free tobacco plants from seeds is arguably the easiest propagation you will ever experience. So viable and wanting to germinate are the seeds that you can literally shake a seed head over a damp bag of compost and they will grow – 100% guaranteed! This is the beauty of propagation, the ability to grow new plants for free instead of only being able to purchase the limited plants available in your local garden centre or super market. Tropical Gardens UK: How to Overwinter (Winterize) Glory Lily, Flame li...

Most gardeners responsible for exotic gardens dread the late autumn as with it come a huge amount of plant winterisation. One such plant is the Glory lily which cannot be left out in freezing, wet conditions otherwise the root tubers will easily damage and rot! There are a few techniques which you can employ, usually I tip the pot over mid-autumn to prevent rain water from soaking the root-ball then I bring the pot into the greenhouse and leave it to dry out until I bring it back in the spring. This year I have done it differently as I am out of space in the green house which turned out to be perfect as a number of my hardy exotic have been damaged despite being in the greenhouse due to an exceptionally cold spell! So now the tubers have been washed clean, dried and stored in a drawer in the kitchen. Once the threat of late frosts have passed they will be potted on again, placed outside in full sun and watered thoroughly. If you would like to see more content like this then you can che
