Port Moresby North East Candidate Raises Concerns of Alleged Tampering of Ballot Papers

 By Joe GURINA : FM 100  Port Moresby North East Candidates claim “cheating” has been practiced in the polling preparations. They raised their concerns after discovering that two extra boxes of ballot papers were allocated for two wards and delivered to Sir John Guise stadium last Sunday in preparation of the polling period. Ms Tania Bale They are calling on the Electoral Commission’s NCD Election Manager to destroy the two extra boxes of ballot papers estimated to be 8,000 in total. The boxes were allegedly moved on Sunday evening from ATC (Air Transport Control) to the Sir John Guise stadium by polling officials without consulting the candidates who are now questioning the authenticity of the extra ballot papers. Ms Tania Bale, a candidate for Port Moresby North East said Two LLG Wards 9 and 12, had two extra boxes with 4,000 ballot papers in each. ‘’Sunday was meant to be the day when we were to do all the pre-polling checks. PNG Election: Candidates go to court to stop Wapenamanda Counting

The Sitting Member for Wapenamanda, Rimbink Pato and two other candidates are seeking interim orders from the National Court in Waigani to stop the counting of ballot boxes for the electorate in the province. Lawyer appearing on behalf of the plaintiffs, Nathan Pilamb made the application verbally as a matter of urgency. He submitted that word on the ground is that the Election Manager for Enga or the Returning Officer for Wapenamanda have brought the ballot boxes to the counting venue, in preparation for counting to begin this afternoon. Mr. Pilamb claims that this is despite a lawful directive from the Electoral Commissioner on July 19th, 2022 to transfer all the ballot boxes for Enga to Jiwaka Province, for scrutiny and counting, because of security reasons. Therefore, they are seeking interim injunctions to stop counting in the Province and for the Court to give effect to the Electoral Commissioner’s directive, to be complied with. TOP 100 UK GARDENS - Chelsea Physic Garden: October Tree Walk

Established in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, the four acre site which makes up the Chelsea Physic garden London, England was originally created simply to grow plants to be used as medicine. It is among the oldest botanical gardens in Britain and its rock garden is indeed the oldest in Europe, devoted to alpine plants and Mediterranean plants.  Recently, English horticulturist Lorna had the opportunity to visit Chelsea Physic Garden and go on an autumn tree walk.
