IFRC Asia Pacific Regioinal Director Visits Papua New Guinea

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Asia Pacific Regional Director Mr. Alexander Matheou arrived in the country on Wednesday for a three-day visit. The Head of IFRC Asia Pacific which supports 38 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies including Papua New Guinea Red Cross Society is here in the country to see how IFRC can assist PNGRCS to work hand in hand with the Government in playing its auxiliary role to better assist vulnerable people in Papua New Guinea. Mr. Matheou visited the Head Quarter of PNG Red Cross Society after arrival and met with the staff and volunteers from NCD/Central Branch to discuss the problems faced in the country and how we can find strategic solutions to solve these issues moving forward. Cupra in Ireland, another year of growth

The Cupra Formentor compact SUV was the VW-owned performance brand’s biggest seller in Ireland in 2022, with 521 units, writes Brian Byrne. In second place was the Cupra Born electric hatchback, with 126 units. The Irish distributor says demand outstripped supply for its models because of disruption caused by the war in Ukraine and supply chain issues, but nevertheless they achieved growth for the fourth year in succession in the Irish market. The other models in the Cupra range are the Leon hatchback and Sportstourer and the Ateca SUV. 

Kia commissions pageants for Patrick's Festival Parade

Kia Ireland has commissioned three pageant elements for this year’s St Patrick’s Festival Parade in Dublin, under the title ‘A Future That Moves Us’, writes Brian Byrne. The pageant will be a total of 100 metres long within the Parade, exploring the balance between nature and humans and highlighting Creativity, Nature, and Oceans — that last a reflection of Kia’s global support for the Ocean Clean-up project. The pageant is being built by Buí Bolg Youth Arts based in Wexford. A fleet of electrified Kia vehicles will be provided to assist the various celebrations of the Festival from March 16–19. This will include a vehicle display area at the Festival Quarter in Collins Barracks, National Museum of Decorative Arts. Tropical Gardens UK: Our Exotic Garden on the First Day of Spring

We have been waiting patiently for the first day of spring to arrive in the hope that the tropical effect plants in our Exotic garden will start to show some signs of life. However with the long, cold winter still holding on by the tips of its icy grip very little has happened – or has it. English horticulturist Simon takes a closer look at the garden to see what plant-based miracles are beginning to emerge. With the longer days and just a little more warmth in the air, the first of the spring bulbs have come into flower while other are just beginning to emerge from their seasonal slumber. Deciduous plants are just beginning to break into leaf and a number of herbaceous perennials are just poking their new growth above the soil line.
