PNG High Court refuses O'Neill's bid to stay Parliament Sitting

A three-men Supreme Court bench has refused an urgent application by Peter O’Neill this morning seeking orders to stay the Parliament from sitting today. Mr. O’Neill is arguing that for Parliament to be called, there has to be a declaration of all 118 seats. The bench refused the application after it ruled that there is no urgency in the application. Solicitor-General Tauvasa Tanuvasa who represented the Attorney-General in the matter said Parliament is already in the process of meeting this morning and Mr O’Neill did not satisfy the court that he would be prejudiced in any way if Parliament met.  NBC / PNG Today Next :  PNG National budget set for September

PM Marape announces Minister William Duma as acting - PNG Prime Minister

 PNG Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has thanked all 118 MPs for their support over the last two weeks, culminating in yesterday’s (December 2, 2022) marathon session in which the 2023 Budget was overwhelmingly passed. He also announced that he is leaving for Sydney, Australia, today (December 3, 2022) to attend the 16th PNG Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference. John Rosso was out of the country on duty travel in Europe and Africa, and in their absence, United Resource Party Leader and State Enterprises Minister Hon. Air Niugini Resumes Domestic Flights

Papua New Guinea’s national airline, Air Niugini has resumed operations after it cancelled its domestic flights earlier today (Thursday). According to a statement released by the airline,  Puma energy has advised Air Niugini at 5pm today (5th January) that they have resumed normal supply of fuel. Hence Air Niugini is able to resume operating a normal schedule from tomorrow morning (Friday 6th January, 2023). The airline says affected customers are advised to revalidate their travel to the next available flight. Air Niugini regrets the inconvenience caused, however the situation has been beyond the airline’s control. Safety is always of paramount importance in our operations.
