The Head of State Sir Bob Dadae this morning invited the ruling PANGU Pati to form Government in the 11th Parliament. PANGU Pati won the highest number of seats in the 2022 National Election with 36 declared so far. Sir Bob presented the Section 63 Letter to PANGU Pati General-Sectary Morris Tovebae at Government House in Port Moresby. The Vice Regal said according to Section 63 of the Organic Law on the Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates, PANGU won the highest number of seats in this national election. The event was witnessed by Leader of PANGU Pati James Marape, his Deputy John Rosso and other members of the coalition. In his speech, Mr. Marape said every political party that took part in this election contested for this 63 Letter and its was a fair playing field. Meantime, the PANGU-led coalition at Loloata Island Resort has over 82 members with more expected to be declared.  High cost of power is a major hinderance to trade and investment in Papua New Guinea (PNG), says Minister for Trade and Investment,  Richard Maru.  PNG’s electricity sector is unreliable, expensive and has very low access, making the country one of the least electrified countries in the world with only 13% of the population having access to electricity. “We continue to rely on the expensive diesel generators when we have vast cheaper and cleaner energy options available- the rivers (for hydro projects) and the sun (for solar farms),” said Minister Maru. Minister Maru raised this concern after meeting with a team from the Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC) this morning where they discussed about a feasibility study into the Sowom Hydro Project in East Sepik Province. Native to the tropical climates of South Africa, Nerines (Guernsey Lilies) have different needs when you pot them on or plant them in an exotic garden. In this video English horticulturist Simon explains the conditions required to get the very best out of these wonderful bulbs.  Apart from the extremely hardy Nerine bowdenii, it just isn’t recommended to plant these gorgeous bulbs outside in the UK so in order to provide the best environment for flowering they will fair far better in a greenhouse. This is because the require warmer temperatures (especially over the winter) and dry winters. On the other hand, Nerine bowdenii is as tough as old boots, at least in the south of England, where it can stand up to the worst our soft winters can through at it. Simply plant it in a sunny position (preferably against the protection of a south-facing wall) in a well drained soil.
