A New Pathway Begins – SP PNG Hunters players enter Dolphins NRL preseason training

The SP PNG Hunters currently have four players undergoing fulltime preseason training with the Dolphins NRL squad in preparation for the 2023 season. This arrangement is part of a strategic partnership between the SP PNG Hunters and the Dolphins NRL club which aims to get more local players of Papua New Guinean heritage into the NRL competition. Bisle Ghat: The Butterfly Forest of India

It is one of the prettiest ghat roads in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. It is one of the few untouched tract of pristine forests left in Karnataka. It is one of the top monsoon routes of Karnataka. It is home to some of India’s most spectacular rainforests. It is one of the wettest regions in Karnataka. I am talking about the lesser known Bisle Ghat of Karnataka. Straddling 3 regions of Karnataka, namely Kodagu, Malnad and Dakshina Kannada, Bisle Ghat is an absolute joy to the senses. To its north lies the rolling hills of Kaginahare forest , to its south lies the Pushpagiri wildlife sanctuary of Kodagu from where the Kumaradhara river begins, to its west lies the Bhagimalai forest and to its south west lies Kumaraparvatha and the Kukke Subramanya forest range. I have been to Bisle ghat and Bisle forest a good number of times and in spite of that, I cannot stop but admire its beauty. It is quite rare to see such a pristine and untouched ecosystem in this day and era, but somehow this ...

Review - The Black Moth by Georgette Heyer

About the Book – Jack Carstares, an Earl turned highwayman, and his enemy, the enigmatic Duke of Andover, engage in an intense rivalry over the beautiful Diana Beauleigh. Seven years before the story opens, Carstares protected his brother by allowing himself to be disgraced for cheating at cards. His brother, suffering intense guilt, isn’t aware that they played right into the hands of the Duke of Andover. The disgraced Earl now roams the countryside until a confrontation with his rival thwarts the attempt to kidnap the lovely Diana. But now the Duke is more determined than ever to have Diana for his own, and the two men will meet at sword point before the Earl’s name can be cleared and he can claim his fair lady. My Thoughts – As regulars of this blog know, I love Heyer’s books. She has a style of writing that just flows. The energy never dulls. The stories might not be perfect, but I can never quite fault Heyer’s execution of them. The Bla...

Preparing Tortoises for UK Winter Hibernation

Autumn is upon us and winter is now just around the corner. However while the overnight temperatures are still mild it won’t be long before we will need to look at putting in some preparation for over-wintering the tortoises. They can’t really be left outside in the freezing conditions so Lorna will now be making arrangements to have everything in place to hibernate her tortoises so that can do so in the safest possible way before it gets to cold. With that in mind we thought it would be a great idea to have a chat with Lorna to find out what she has in mind and the reasons behind it.  If you would like to see more content like this the why not consider supporting our YouTube channel ‘Walking Talking Gardeners’.
