Member for Kandrian Gloucester Joseph Lelang is the new Opposition leader of the Papua New Guinea Parliament. The announcement was made this morning during a media conference by the People’s National Congress Party. Mr. Lelang says they will keep the government in check and balance on national issues. Member for Kiriwina/Goodenough Douglas Tomuriesa is the Deputy Opposition leader. The announcements were made by the leader of the PNC Party Peter O’Neill. Up to 14,000 dormant accounts at Bank of South Pacific Financial Group Limited will be closed and funds remitted to the Department of Finance at the end of 2022. BSP Group Chief Executive Officer Robin Fleming told NBC News that most of these customer accounts have less than K20 and have not been charged account maintenance fees since.
