Air Niugini  has announced that  the airline has suspended all flights to Kagamuga airport, Mt Hagen today due to civil unrest. The airline’s decision to suspend flights was made after it received a Notice to Pilots(NOTAM), consequently forcing the cancellation of all five flights today. Air Niugini will continue to closely monitor the situation and will resume operations as soon as it is safe, including withdrawal of the NOTAM.  Passengers who had purchased tickets for the flights that were cancelled can revalidate their travel for the next available flight. Air Niugini regrets the inconvenience caused to our passengers however the situation is beyond the airline’s control.  Safety is always of paramount importance in our operations.  The Marape  Government saved K127.6 million from the National General Elections 2022. It only expanded K518.2 million of the funds allocated, according to the latest Treasury IFMIS report of August 18, 2022. According to caretaker treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey, this was 54 per cent more expenditure than the K336 million spent on the 2017 election. “There remains K127.6 million in funds not spent that have been approved and fully warranted. “This was by far the best funded election in PNG’s history. We will have to learn the lessons of what went right in many Provinces, but also what went wrong in many others,” he said. “More is likely to be needed to support the calls for biometric identities and electronic voting.” Deputy Primary Minister John Rosso and Mr Ling-Stuckey received an update on the funding situation for the 2022 election from the Electoral Commissioner Simon Sinai, Police Commissioner David Manning, and the Acting Secretary for Treasury. All wheel drive versions of the performance variants of the Skoda Enyaq EV are scheduled to arrive in Ireland in the early part of this year, writes Brian Byrne. Skoda Ireland expects to see a significant increase in the number of 4×4 Skodas here when the 4×4 Enyaq RS and Enyaq Coupe RS arrive. Skoda Ireland’s Product Manager Libor Pavlas says that with the arrival last year of the Enyaq 80X, the AWD version of the brand’s EV SUV, the format now represents 10pc of all Enyaq orders. There’s a premium of €2,960 over the two-wheel drive version, with no change in annual road tax and minimal impact on range. Following Ireland’s coldest winter in 130 years in 2010, Skoda Ireland took a marketing position to promote 4×4 vehicles and succeeded in increasing AWD sales by a factory of five. “Subsequent winters have proved milder which has coincided with a reduction in demand for 4×4 vehicles but Skoda still has a loyal band of 4×4 customers here in Ireland,” says the company’s Head of Marketing
