Papua New Guinea Proclaims King Charles III as Head of State

Papua New Guinea has  formally proclaimed King Charles III as head of State. The proclamation ceremony took place outside the Papua New Guinea Parliament House this morning.  The proclamation of Charles as monarch comes following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, last Friday.  Papua New Guinea Proclaims King Charles III as Head of State  [Photo by NBC News PNG] The Queen died at the age of 96.  King Charles III has had a long-standing relationship with Papua New Guinea over the years.   He first visited the country in 1966 as the Prince of Wales and was also present to officially open the House of Legislation in 1984. Delays in Government's TFF Funds disbursement, force Public Schools in PNG to start the 2023 academic year on credit basis

Funds from  the  PNG Marape-Rosso government’s Tuition Fee Free policy are yet to hit the accounts of schools in the national education system. Education Secretary Dr. Uke Kombra had said last week, the department received two warrants totalling K396 million, and expected the funds to be deposited into schools accounts later that week. However, this is yet to happen, and a good number of schools are operating on a credit basis to get learning and teaching materials on time for normal classes this week. Schools are appealing to parents to ensure their children’s needs in terms of stationery and uniforms are met before sending them for classes.
