The Papua New Guinea  Police Commissioner is again appealing to candidates, supporters and the public to take responsibility for ensuring a free, fair, safe and corruption-free 2022 National Election. David Manning made the call as the country prepares to go to the polls next Monday. Mr. Manning in a statement also appealed to all members of the Joint Security Task Force, engaged in providing security for the election and members of the PNG Electoral Commission, to be honest, diligent and committed in the discharge of their duties. According to Commissioner Manning, election security operations around the country have progressed well with the Quick Response Force consisting of Police, Defence and Correctional Services already deployed to the Highlands. He also stated that Mobile Squads from the Special Services Division have been deployed for election security duties to provinces within the New Guinea Islands and Southern Regions.  PNG Prime Minister James Marape, MP today called on the Constitutional and Law Reform Commission’s newly appointed Chairman and Member for Okapa, Hon. Saki Soloma to begin consultation on the proposed laws recently announced by the Government. Mr Soloma’s appointment by Cabinet came into effect in September following the revocation of the appointment of the Late Member for Wewak Open,  Kevin Isifu as Chair of the Commission. Prime Minister Marape said as Chair, Mr Soloma, must now begin open dialogues with the Commission on some of the proposed constitutional laws recently announced by the Government.
