PNG Election : Wenge Leads Morobe Regional Seat Race

Counting for the Morobe Regional Seat has finally started it’s eliminations, after going through three quality checks.  Luther Wenge Morobe Provincial Returning Officer and Election Manager Simon Soheke, says that this is because they wanted to do proper checks before they go into eliminations. After the first exclusion, People’s Labour Party candidate and former Governor Luther Wenge is leading with 79, 394 votes, and on second is Kemas Tomala. a United Labour Party candidate with 56, 487 votes. Running third is incumbent Governor and PANGU Party candidate Ginson Saonu with 28, 244 votes and fourth is woman candidate and People’s Movement for Change Party sponsored candidate, Jennifer Baing with 19, 796 votes. Tropical Invasive Plant Monster - Clerodendrum bungei

Back in the day I used to sell this plant in the garden centres and to be fair it was handsome looking specimen with lush bold leaves and usual yet exotic blooms. It was definitely an eye-catcher. Fast forward 20 years and I haven’t really seen them since until I moved into our village where they have proven themselves an absolute menace. Using vigorous roots they have managed to race across to my garden from the original planting 200 meters down the lane! No wonder Clerodendrum bungei no longer seems to be sold. It is genuinely an invasive menace. However Lorna likes it so we are currently arguing as to whether we are going to keep it or not.
