Papua New Guinea  Prime Minister Hon. James Marape arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, today (November 16, 2022) for APEC 2022. PM Marape was accorded a red-carpet welcome upon his arrival in Bangkok from Singapore. He was accompanied by Mrs Rachael Marape. PM Marape met with members of the Papua New Guinea delegation in Bangkok today to prepare for bilaterals and the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting. A 42-year-old male Chinese national was apprehended by PNG authorities at the Lae airport,  on Wednesday, 22nd of March 2023, while trying to board a plane out of Lae, Morobe province. He’s alleged to be among the suspects involved in the transportation of narcotics including drug substances between Australia and Papua New Guinea. He’s currently detained and is being questioned by police.
