PNG Elections : NCD Polling Deferred to Friday 8th July

Polling for the National Capital District has been  further delayed to Friday 8th of July, 2022. NCD Election Manager Kila Ralai said the decision to defer was made because of interference in the administration process by the candidates and scrutineers in Moresby North East electorate. Polling in City of Port Moresby delayed until Friday 8th July  Ralai apologized to the voters and all the stakeholders involved but said this was done to maintain the integrity of the office of the Electoral Commission. He further said the process is more important than the date scheduled for elections. Ralai said they are ready to deliver the elections however however since the interferences are done by stakeholders of the election, they had to attend to them. PNG Elections : IDEC Chair , Pomeleu calls for Counting to be speed up

 Following a briefing with the Electoral Commissioner on Sunday, 24 July 2022, the Secretary to the Department of Prime Minister & National Executive Council and the Chairman of the Interdepartmental Election Committee, Ivan Pomaleu, has again called for counting right across the country to be speeded up. “I have noted that the country has now moved into counting. The writs must be returned by 29th July 2022. That date is the fifth anniversary of this Parliament. This is where the clock stops. We all must make sure we meet the time. I cannot express seriously enough the need for writs to be returned by this Friday.” Secretary Pomaleu has noted that a significant number of provinces are now well and truly into their counting phases. He is encouraging them to conclude the process as soon as practicable. He is calling for all stakeholders in the process to make sure that counting progress uninterrupted this week. Air Niugini Receives Certificate of Accreditation on Dangerous Goods Training

Air Niugini has received its Certificate of Accreditation on Dangerous Goods (DG) training from International Air Transport Association (IATA), focusing on Competency-based Training and Assessments (CBTA) guidelines. This is a first, for an airline in PNG! Air Niugini’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Gary Seddon said the accreditation followed a stringent review of the dangerous goods regulations.  CBTA is a new, mandated method of conducting and assessing DG training by International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and IATA. He said “The accreditation means the Air Niugini Training school can provide internationally recognized dangerous goods training qualifications with co-branded IATA certification. Alfa Romeo Tonale on sale here

The new Alfa Romeo Tonale has gone on sale in Ireland at a starting price of €49,995, writes Brian Byrne. The compact crossover is available with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, and in two grades along with a ‘Speciale’ extra launch version.  All versions are automatic, with outputs of 160hp and 280hp respectively, the latter being AWD thanks to the electric motor on the rear axle.  The PHEV includes a 15.5kWh battery thats some 36pc bigger than that used in the Jeep Compass PHEV, to which the Tonale is closely related. The car kicks off the new Irish distribution by Gowan Auto, based in a purpose-built HQ at City West, Dublin. Currently there are three Alfa Romeo dealerships, in Dublin, Cork and Waterford. Plans are to increase this to a network of eight. Two other models are currently available, the Giulia large sedan and the Stelvio SUV which sits above the Tonale.
